Tahiti: Transport

Faaa International
Airport is 5 km west of the capital Papeete. Most international
flights arrive late at night or early in the morning. Shuttle buses
and taxis will take you to your accommodation. The domestic airline
is Air Tahiti which flies to 40 islands with small aircrafts.
Air Moorea shuttles all day long from 6.30 am to sunset from Faaa
Airport, Moorea terminal, to Moorea. The flight takes 10 minutes
and prebooking is not necessary.

Bus, Taxi
Le Truck is the local bus service. It has a good network in Tahiti
and to a lesser extend on the other islands. Only Moorea and Bora
Bora have a regular service from and to flights, ferry boats and
hotels.
Taxis are on most Society Islands but they are very expensive.
Rental Cars, Driver’s License
Rental cars are available on most islands with tourism, offering
4, 8 or 24 hour rates. A credit card and driver licence is necessary.
Avis and Europcar have small economical cars on most islands with
tourism.
Driving is on the right side of the road, driving style is slow
and passiv except in Papeete.
