Cook Islands: Accommodations

The majority of places to stay are self-contained motels or bungalows with a fully equipped kitchen, often with one or more separate bedrooms. A laundry with dryer and iron is usually in the main establishment.
Of course, there is also a range of international standard hotels, backpacker accommodations and private houses to rent.
Having a room already booked is a condition of entry for the Cook Islands, even if this isn’t always controlled on arrival. They want to discourage sleeping on beaches and this is meant as a way of ensuring that every visitor has a bed. Owners of smaller lodgings stand in the arrival hall looking for potential customers. Camping is not allowed.
